Chuck Lawrence, CPA

Chuck received his degree in accounting from UW-LaCrosse in 1984 and has been working with individuals and small businesses ever since.

He moved to Rice Lake in 1989 and started Lawrence, Nelson & Associates, Ltd. in 1995. Chuck truly enjoys working with people and helping them to save money on their taxes. He has over 20 years of tax planning and preparation experience. He is skilled at guiding business owners to achieve greater profitability and can help decide if they should be incorporated.

He says “I don’t think I’ll ever retire because I love what I do and I love working with my clients”.

April Nelson, Partner

April has been with Lawrence, Nelson & Associates, Ltd. since 1997.

She graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.  This education and history of experience give her the knowledge and expertise to help new business startups get off on the right foot and help to reorganize existing businesses.  She also does tax planning, consulting, and general accounting work. She states that she “enjoys building relationships with my clients that go beyond compiling financial statements.”

April lives in the area with her husband and three children.

Teresa Hom, Staff Accountant

Teresa graduated from Wisconsin Technical College with an Associate Degree in Accounting.  She has been with Lawrence, Nelson & Associates, Ltd. since 2006 and has over 20 years of combined experience in the field of accounting.

Specializing in payroll, compiling financial statements, and corporate and individual tax preparation, she is willing to take on new and varied projects with the ability to handle changing priorities and deadlines.

Teresa enjoys traveling, being outdoors and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Nicole Prinsen, Accountant

Nicole is an accountant with an Associate Degree from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and a Bachelors Degree from Lakeland University in accounting.

Nicole previously worked with Johnson Bank in Rice Lake.

She is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys deer hunting, and fishing on Lake Superior with her Dad.

Sunni Bliese, Accountant

Since graduating from Rasmussen Business College in Eagan, Minnesota, Sunni has 25 years experience in many areas of accounting.

Her focus at Lawrence, Nelson is everything from payroll to full financial statements.

Sunni and her husband moved back to Rice Lake after living in the Twin Cities for 20 years.  They like to vacation to various places but also enjoy many of the local activities in and around Rice Lake.

Angie Veness, Accountant

Angie is an accountant with an associate degree from WITC.  She specializes in payroll and compiling monthly financial statements.

She enjoys spending summer weekends at the lake.

Justin Virkus, Enrolled Agent/Accountant

Justin received his Associate Degree in Accounting from WITC Rice Lake in 2012.  In early 2017, he became an enrolled agent with the IRS.

He enjoys working on payroll, individual tax returns, business tax returns, and financial statements.

In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his wife.

Kendra Zych, Accountant

Kendra attended the University of Wisconsin – Barron County where she graduated with an Associate Degree of Arts and Science.  She then continued her education at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and business management.

She enjoys working through new projects to expand her knowledge in the field.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family.

Jean Koranda, Accountant

Jean is very excited to be joining our staff from Anchor Accounting, LLC.  Having an Associate Degree in Accounting from Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, she has worked in the bookkeeping and accounting field for many years.

Jean has worked with preparing individual tax returns for the past twelve-plus years and looks forward to meeting and working with clients during the busy tax season.

Jean lives in the Rice Lake Area and enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Cooking, gardening and antiques are also her personal favorites.

Caleb Peterson, Accountant

Caleb is an accountant with an Associate Degree from Northwood Technical College. He enjoys working on payrolls and tax returns, as well as challenging projects to learn from.

In his spare time, he enjoys watching NASCAR.

Jamey Crotteau, Accountant

Jamey attended Viterbo University and graduated in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in Finance. This is her first opportunity working for an accounting firm after obtaining her degree but has previously been hands on with her family’s business’ financials since a young age. This is where she grew her love for numbers!

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, friends and enjoying the outdoors in many aspects. Time on the lake, playing sports, and hunting are some of her favorites.

Sue Pederson, Administrative Assistant

Sue received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from St. Cloud State University. She worked for a Commercial Real Estate firm in Minneapolis before moving to Rice Lake and staying at home to raise her children. Prior to joining our staff, Sue managed the office at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake.

Sue enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
